Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Why should I choose Scarlett to come to my home and care for my pets?
A: Because Scarlett has:
- Been pet sitting for 6 years
- A certificate in Animal Health and Welfare
- Training in pet first aid
- Experience administering pill and liquid medications, as well as insulin injections
- Numerous references and testimonials from repeat clients
- A police background check
Q: How does it work?
A: Your pets stay in your home and Scarlett comes to the house at the
agreed upon times to feed, walk, and take care of your pets. Each client
has different needs, depending on what animals you have, their age and
activity level or any health concerns. A typical visit is 30-45 minutes
and includes feeding, walking, playtime and exercise for dogs, cats,
rabbits, ferrets etc. It includes administering medication if required,
cat litter scooping, watering of plants and a perimeter check for
security purposes and to monitor for any excessive water or fallen
branches after a rain storm.
You might choose to use pet sitting as an option for when you go to
Vancouver for the long weekend, and have your dogs visited twice a day
for the time you're away. Or perhaps you would like your puppy to be
walked in the afternoon while you're at work so that you don't come home
to an accident. Or maybe you want to have a pet sitting service set up
and available for emergencies, in case you get stuck at work late and
can't get home to let your dog out for a pee break. There are lots of
reasons to have a trusted pet sitter on speed dial!
Q: Are there any animals you won't feed? What if my lizard will only eat live crickets?
A: ALL pets are welcome, including snakes, lizards and spiders. Scarlett
has been a volunteer at the Calgary Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre and
has fed birds live meal worms, frozen mice to owls and live crickets to
pet lizards.
Q: How much does it cost?
A: $17
for 1 visit a day, $30 for 2 visits in one day, or $40 for 3 visits in
one day. One low price, no matter how many pets you have!
If
you live in the Parksville, Qualicum Beach or Nanaimo area, please
contact Scarlett to make an appointment to come meet you and your
pet(s), and talk with you about your pet sitting/dog walking needs. A
free, no-obligation visit will allow you to feel comfortable that all
